Five Essential Summer Must Haves!!!

5 Essential Summer Must Haves!!!

Summer is just around the corner and even though it technically doesn't still feel like Spring, the weather is surely an indicator of summer. The sun is out and shining brighter than ever. I love the feeling of the sun beating down on my skin. Down below are my 5 must have summer products.

1. It is important to have a good sunscreen that you reapply throughout the summer months. This summer I will be sticking to the Coppertone Water Babies sunscreen in SPF 50. You are probably wondering why I am using baby sunscreen. I'm currently pregnant and want to project my skin as much as possible during this time. This sunscreen was recommended by my doctor. It's important to protect your skin when you are pregnant because you are more prone to developing skin discoloration. Also, if you develop stretch marks the sun will enhance the presence of the marks. There are other sunscreens that you can use when you are pregnant but I definitely prefer the Coopertone brand. The formulation isn't greasy at all and it soaks into the skin quickly. Also, one big thing that hooked me on this product was the smell of it. The smell is very light and has that sun tan lotion smell, which I look forward to in the summer.
A sunscreen that I would use if I wasn't pregnant would be the Bare Republic Natural Mineral Sunscreen. I discovered this product from my Ipsy bag and I love the formulation. It is very light weight, non-greasy application and the bonus is that it contains all organic products. The only drawback I have for not using it while being pregnant is that it only goes up to an SPF of 30. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that isn't pregnant. My husband used it the other day at the beach and prefers it over other sunscreen lotions.

2. Summer is certainly a season that a lot of people, including myself, look forward to. There are however several drawbacks from it. There will be days where it will be so hot and humid you will feel like your makeup is sliding off your face. One important product that I use during the summer months that help with this feeling is using a very light foundation. My go to foundation in the summer is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. The formulation is very light and the smell amazing! I have to apply a primer under it to make sure it last the whole day in the heat. I always go back to this product in the summer because I absolutely love it. There have been other foundations that I have tried but they don't work the same and if anything feel heavier on the skin. If you have never tried this foundation I highly recommend you going to the closest Chanel counter and asking for a sample. It is fairly pricey for a foundation if you only use drug store foundations but it last me through the whole summer and into the next summer.

3. Another makeup product that will help during the heat is a waterproof mascara. The one I am currently using is the Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof mascara from Tarte. I never have a routine mascara that I swear by but this formulation is very nice. I normally stick to drugstore mascaras because I feel they give the same outcome and you only have to dish out a couple of dollars. I brought this mascara specifically for my wedding.
Last year I used the Maybelline waterproof Rocket mascara that I feel worked just the same. I think during these hot and humid months as long as you have a waterproof mascara on you will be golden. Also if you feel like you want to take a dip in the water you don't have to worry about your mascara running.

4. When I think of summer I think of a tan and shimmery glow to the skin. One product that I swear by, especially in the summer, is the Mary-Lou Manizer from the Balm. This product should be in every girls makeup collection. This product can act as a highlighter, eyeshadow or you can even apply it to your lips to give an ombre look. During the summer months I like to highlight with this product to give off that summer glow on my face. When the sun or light hits the product it creates this beautiful shimmer that looks natural. I concentrate the product mostly on the high points of my cheek bones and my brow bones. I have been given a lot of compliments wearing this product. This product is very pigmented so I would apply a little to the area you want and build it up to your liking. This product can be purchased from Kohls.

5. My last summer must have product is one that I couldn't live without. It is the Lip Glow color reviver balm from Dior. When you apply it to your lips it turns your lips the perfect pink. It is definitely a your lips but better color. It is very light in formulation and it is the best lip product I have ever come by. I like using this product specifically in the summer months because there are just some days I want a little color to my lips but I don't want to deal with the maintenance of making sure it isn't rubbed off. To me the summer is all about having a very light makeup routine and this certainly adds to it. This product has certainly become one of my holy grail makeup items and I definitely recommend to everyone. The only drawback about this product is the price. I purchased it for 33 dollars, which seems like a lot but I use this product almost every day. Go to your local Dior counter and test it out. It doesn't hurt to try.

The Secret to Sunburns

Soothe regime from Rodan & Fields

It’s that time of the year! The temperature is rising and the sun is beating down on your skin. Whether you are outside doing some gardening or at the beach, it is so important to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UBA rays. There are so many great sun tan lotions out there that will help in guarding your skin, but what if sun tan lotion is too late? What then?

Before using Soothe
This past 4th of July I spent the entire holiday at shore in Margate City, New Jersey. While at the beach I applied an SPF 30 sun tan lotion in the morning but like any other human being I forgot to continually reapply throughout the day. Heading home that night I didn’t realize how burnt I was until I took a shower.

Looking at myself in the mirror, my entire face, neck and chest were beat red. I was so disappointed in myself for not protecting my skin. It is so critical for people to protect their skin from the sun because it causes skin damage. Also, being out in the sun will age the skin much faster.

3 Days after using Soothe
My answer to my sunburn was simple, Rodan & Fields Soothe skincare regime. This was the first time that I used this regime. I figured that it helps with many skin conditions for Rosacea, eczema and psoriasis so why wouldn’t it help my sun burn? I started that night and continued for three days. It only took three days for my sunburn to go down and become a base tan.

The first product in this regime is a cream wash that is so gentle on the skin and it doesn't irritate it at all. If anything it was so refreshing and soothing on my skin. After the wash, I used the sensitive skin treatment that helped reduce the visible signs of redness and inflammation. Also, this treatment has dimethicone and allantoin in the product that fortifies the skin's barrier to relieve dryness and reduce sensitivity. Finally, the last product that I used was the moisture replenishing cream, which was critical in maintaining the moisture levels in my skin. All three of these products when together work AMAZING!

Typically when I get sunburn my skin becomes itchy and starts to peel. When I used the Soothe regime, my skin became so hydrated and it didn’t peel at all. I knew that it would help my burn, but I didn’t realize how amazing it would work. I am going to Aruba in August and this will certainly be packed in my suitcase. If you haven’t tried any of the Rodan & Field’s products you are seriously missing out on great formulations. Check out my website below and if you have any questions feel free to email me!

Mac Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15

Discovering the MAC matchmaster foundation:

It took me 22 years to cave in and finally purchase a MAC foundation. I know a lot of people that use MAC products specifically their foundation and they love it! Why wouldn’t anyone want to buy it? It’s affordable, gives great coverage and is ultimately an amazing product.

Well for me I kept telling myself down the road that I will purchase a MAC foundation but I never got the courage to actually purchase it. I kept holding on to my Chanel vitalumiere aqua foundation that I loved. This was probably because I knew that I wasn’t wasting my money and it was ultimately something that I was comfortable with.

A couple of weeks ago, my sister came to visit me in Philadelphia and we did anything any girl would do, shop. We were almost to the Macy’s exit door when my sister wandered over to the MAC counter. I picked up the matchmaster foundation and started testing it on the back of my hand. Within a matter of seconds the girl at the counter approached me, asking me all sorts of questions. She applied the foundation on my face and in a matter of seconds I fell in love. The foundation was everything I was looking for and even more.

My Overall opinion:

After 1 month of using this foundation, I have no complaints, AT ALL! Well maybe if I had to pick one it would be to change the smell of the foundation. It isn’t smelly in a bad way but it smells like makeup, which I don’t like.

Starting off with the formulation of the product, it is a thick creamy consistency that glides on the face smoothly. It doesn’t give that “Caked on” look. I personally like to apply this foundation with a buffer brush but in times of need I have used my fingertips. I believe that both methods of application give the same results. One thing that I love about this foundation is the coverage. The foundation from Chanel that I used before didn’t give me coverage at all when I compare it to the MAC foundation.

What I noticed different about this foundation compared to any other foundations that I have used throughout my life is that it has an orange hue. When I apply this foundation on the skin that hue isn’t noticeable at all. If anything this orange hue is a positive aspect of this foundation. At times I will mix my concealer with the foundation and apply it under my eyes. The orange hue definitely helps in covering up my dark circles under my eyes. Also, with most concealers, when I apply this foundation with my concealer it doesn’t crease up at all.

Saying that this product is amazing is an understatement. This has truly become my Holy Grail product of the year. I will definitely re-purchase this product. The best thing about it is that it only cost me 33.00, which is reasonably cheap for high-end foundations. If you are looking for a new foundation, I highly recommend that you go to MAC counter and get a sample of this amazing foundation! Be sure to leave comments down below!

Sigma Beauty!

If you are in need of new makeup brushes you definitely need to invest in these. They won't put a dent in your wallet and in the end they are very durable. Usually you can tell how well your brushes hold up when you clean them on a daily routine. If the bristles aren't falling out, then that's a sign that the brushes are well worth the money. If you find your brushes are "shedding" I strongly believe that you should write the company for your money back. Please let me know if you have any sigma products and what your favorite are. Below is a link to the sigma website with a coupon code that will take 10% off your purchase! Try them if you haven't already.
